Penney Poyzer (Nourish Associates, UK)


    Penney Poyzer is joint managing director of Nourish Associates Ltd


    Nourish Associates Ltd, is a female founded, socially focussed business addressing the nexus of food, energy and water. She and her business partner Shona Munro are champions of the local food movement.


    Penney is a multi award winning environmentalist and with her husband architect Gil Schalom was acknowledged by DECC as the pioneers of the low energy retrofit movement in the UK. She was made Nottingham Evening Post Green Champion 2014 and given a life time achievement award for her services to the environment.


    She is known as a TV presenter for the BBC, ITV and Scottish Television and is a regular expert contributor to local and national radio stations across a broad church of environmental issues. Penney has authored two books on household sustainability and has contributed articles to many journals, newspapers and magazines.


    Penney is patron of five charities including Foodshare – the international growing to give movement and the Women’s Environmental Network. She was an expert to the EU on Governance, Climate Change and Equality and has also been an advisor to a number of national agencies including the Environment Agency as well as a wide range of businesses. She was also a visiting lecturer for architecture students at Nottingham Trent University.


    Penney also created an award winning board game for primary schools children which explains the hydrologic cycle, embodied water content of common items and national water use per capita. ‘The Water Cycle Game’ has been translated into four languages and has sold as far afield as Australia.

    She was named by the Independent on Sunday as “One of 100 British women of the last century who have changed the world”
